Coronavirus Update

In these unprecedented times, we want to support both our tenant and landlord communities in the best way we can.
THIS POST IS BEING REGULARLY UPDATED

While no one knows what will happen over the coming weeks and months, we want to assure you that we are doing all we can to protect our staff, tenants, landlords and the wider community.

As the situation evolves we will keep you up to date with any changes relating to maintenance, office support, and tenancies.

These are our current updates…..

Contacting Prolet

In-line with Government advice the Prolet office and the phone lines are closed from Monday 23rd March BUT we are still all working and are contactable via e-mail.

Government Support for Tenants and Landlords

On 19th March the Government issued an announcement on how tenants and landlords will be supported:
  • Emergency legislation to suspend new evictions from social or private rented accommodation while this national emergency is taking place
  • No new possession proceedings through applications to the court to start during the crisis
  • Landlords will also be protected as 3 month mortgage payment holiday is extended to Buy to Let mortgages

Self-Isolation

As per Government guidelines issues on 17th March 2020, anyone with symptoms should stay at home for at least 7 days. Those living with other people should stay at home for at least 14 days, to avoid spreading the infection outside the home. PLEASE contact the office via email to let us know if you and your household are self-isolating. This will help us to provide the necessary help with regard to maintenance, office support, and your tenancy.

Help for Tenants

For tenants who may have trouble paying their rent because of a change in their work circumstances or because they are ill, the Government is putting in place a  range of extra support and measures. If you find yourself in a situation where you are unable to pay your rent due to the current coronavirus outbreak, please get in touch as soon as possible via email We would encourage you to apply for Statutory Sick Pay and Universal Credit if you are eligible. The Government has introduced temporary changes to make it easier to apply. Further details can be found here https://www.understandinguniversalcredit.gov.uk/coronavirus/

Routine Property Inspections

Any routine property inspections will cease until further notice. Government guidance has been requested in situations where tenants are self-isolating and there is a legal requirement such as a Gas Safety check due. We will provide updates on this when we can.

Property Maintenance

We will only be undertaking emergency maintenance issues. Please continue to log any maintenance requests via Fixflo, but please understand that non-emergency maintenance will not be dealt with in the short-term. When logging any maintenance requests you must inform us if you are self-isolation.

Property Viewings

We will not be undertaking any property viewings until further notice. Where a tenancy is due to end, we will be in touch on a case by case basis to discuss the best way to proceed. Coronavirus Update
